When Monique and Sam Kimber-Bell stepped on to their prospective site in Rangitahi, they knew they’d found home.
Located on a back section in the newly crowned Tunarua Drive, the Kimber-Bell’s North-facing Rangitahi plot, ticked all their boxes. Well, all but one… they needed someone to bring their dream to life. Follow their journey, from bare plot to family sanctuary.
Building a first home can be filled with unknowns. We asked Monique and Sam their thoughts as they undertake their build journey with Urban Homes.
Our Urban Journey began one morning, when we decided on a whim to visit a couple of show homes in the Waikato. To us it was the natural first step. We wanted to see what options were available and to view builds in-situ.
When we walked into Urban’s Rivercove show home, we didn’t go in there thinking ‘we’re going to build with Urban’. To be honest, it was the exact opposite. We didn’t think we could afford to build with them.
We knew Urban had a great reputation. So, when we discovered they had options in our price range, we knew we would be building an Urban home.
Instantly, we went from feeling overwhelmed about the prospect of building, the financial commitment and all of the unknowns, to only needing to decide on the perfect house plan for our family.
For us, this is our first real family home. It’s hard not to be cautious. From the deposit to the mortgage, it’s a lot of money and we wanted to spend it in the best way possible.
Open and honest communications play a huge part in our build journey, something our New Home Consultant, Olivia is very aware of and a master at.
We were particularly anxious about the kitchen. We had sign it off in the middle of COVID-19 Level 3 and couldn’t for the life of us visualise it due to the U-shape design. We didn’t want the bold colour statement to overshadow the space. Jordie, our Colour Consultant absolutely delivered here, with a 3D design, custom developed with the different textures and colourways we’d requested, and in a variety of options.
Olivia had worked through a few options with us in the show home. Straight away, the Karapiro Plan caught our eye, offering everything we wanted; a four-bedroom, two bathroom, two lounge, house layout that fit our site footprint.
The Karapiro Plan offered a cost-effective solution that gave us the most bang for our buck. Basically, everything we wanted then more.
