Here’s the ‘need to know’ on Cambridge schools (and why more parents are sending their children to them)

Cambridge has long been known as the home of cycling and rowing in New Zealand, but now it has a new claim to fame: schools that are getting rave reviews from parents and students alike.

We all know that education is important, with larger cities generally seen as the best options for schooling. However, it seems that Waipa ‘Home of Champions’ is now winning that race too!

Schools in Cambridge

When it comes to choosing the right education for your children you want options, so that you can choose what works best for you and your family. And that’s what’s so fantastic – the range of Primary Schools in Cambridge (there are 12 in the region!) allows you to discover the right environment to facilitate the best possible learning, particularly for those just starting their journey through school.

Karapiro Primary is a small rural school (with lots of animals!) on the outskirts of the Lake Karapiro settlement. Cambridge Primary is the original school in the district and their heritage and tradition is still a big part of their daily life. Both are proud to teach traditional values in a modern learning environment and, like all schools in the area, encourage parents to visit and find out more about what they offer.

Cambridge Middle School offers a unique structure of Year 7 to 10 that only exists in a handful of New Zealand schools. Based on research that shows that these years are some of the most important for developmental learning, second only to the first three to five years of life.

Cambridge High School provides complete secondary education from Year 9 to 13. It is a co-educational school with around 1,600 students on its roll. Steeped in history, it was established in 1883 with only 23 students.

St Peter’s School in Cambridge is perhaps the most well-known, with students from all over New Zealand hoping to be admitted here to complete their intermediate and secondary education. It offers both day schooling and boarding, and has a huge range of sporting facilities and subjects on offer, bound to spark any teenager’s interest!
